American Science, OSI Extend Gains On Security Order Prospects

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Shares of makers of airport security screeners, including American Science & Engineering Inc. (ASEI), extended gains on heavy volume Tuesday as investors remained optimistic the companies could receive orders for security products.

Shares of the various companies soared Monday following Friday's failed bombing attempt of Northwest Airlines Flight 253. A Nigerian man on Delta Air Lines Inc.'s (DAL) Northwest flight from Amsterdam to Detroit tried to blow up the plane an hour before landing Friday, but he was foiled by other passengers.
